Description

PEWTER FUR SEAL SMALL

The Fur Seal is found on the south-east mainland and Tasmanian coast.  Its pelt and oil became sought after from 1798 when the sealing industry in Australia began.  The Fur Seal is now a protected species.  They breed on land, but spend much time at sea and feed on crayfish, squid and other small fish.
